Deltona, Florida (August 6, 2026) – A 68-year-old Deltona woman died following a fatal vehicle accident after her vehicle left the roadway and struck a parked car on Courtland Boulevard, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred on July 31 at approximately 1:27 p.m. in the 2700 block of Courtland Boulevard in Deltona. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance, perform life-saving measures, and investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
According to authorities, the woman was driving when she appeared to lose control of the vehicle and veered off the roadway before striking a parked vehicle. A witness traveling behind the vehicle told deputies she observed the driver slump over before the vehicle began drifting off the road. The witness reportedly honked several times in an attempt to warn the driver, but the vehicle continued off the roadway.
Deputies and Emergency Medical Services personnel performed life-saving measures before transporting the woman to a nearby hospital. Authorities said she was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m. The victim was wearing a seatbelt and investigators reported no visible signs of trauma from the crash.
The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation. Authorities are reviewing available evidence to determine whether a medical emergency or other factors contributed to the crash.
Officials said additional details may be released as the investigation continues. The roadway was affected while deputies documented the scene and emergency crews worked in the area.
In Florida, crashes involving a possible medical emergency are investigated to determine whether factors such as driver health conditions, vehicle operation, roadway conditions, or other circumstances contributed to the incident. Investigators may review witness statements, medical information, vehicle evidence, crash reports, and other available records.
Fatal accident claims may involve questions of liability, insurance coverage, and potential compensation for eligible surviving family members. Depending on the circumstances, damages may include funeral expenses, medical costs, loss of financial support, loss of companionship, and other losses permitted under Florida law.
Florida follows a modified comparative negligence system, allowing eligible claimants to seek compensation if they are found to be 50% or less at fault for an incident. Any compensation awarded may be reduced based on the percentage of fault assigned.
