Osceola County, Fla. (June 23, 2026) – Florida’s Turnpike was shut down southbound at Mile Marker 240 following a fatal crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Officials said both the driver and passenger of a single-vehicle crash died as a result of the incident. Authorities have not yet released their identities, pending notification of next of kin.
All southbound lanes in the area were closed while investigators worked the scene and documented evidence. Motorists were urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes due to significant traffic delays.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the crash.
