Deltona, Florida (August 8 2026) – A Deltona driver was arrested Monday after allegedly causing a multi-vehicle hit-and-run crash on eastbound Interstate 4 near the 108-mile marker, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred when a gray Ford F-150 struck two other vehicles, causing one of the vehicles to overturn onto its side. The pickup truck sustained significant front-end damage and was reportedly missing its front driver’s-side tire.

Following the collision, the driver allegedly fled the scene. A witness followed the damaged pickup and provided law enforcement with updates regarding its location.

Deputies in Deltona later located the Ford F-150 and stopped the vehicle. Authorities boxed in the fleeing driver and took the suspect into custody without further incident.

The driver faces multiple charges, including DUI, reckless driving, fleeing and eluding, refusal to submit to DUI testing, driving an unregistered vehicle, and failure to provide proof of insurance. The Florida Highway Patrol also charged the driver with leaving the scene of a crash involving injury.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. Authorities will determine whether additional charges are appropriate based on the evidence and investigation.

General Legal Context for Hit-and-Run Crashes in Florida

Florida law generally requires drivers involved in crashes resulting in injury or property damage to stop at the scene and provide required information and assistance. Leaving the scene of a crash involving injury can result in criminal penalties, depending on the circumstances and severity of the injuries.

When a driver allegedly causes a crash through negligence, reckless driving, or impairment, injured parties may also have potential civil claims for damages. Depending on the circumstances, recoverable damages may include medical expenses, lost income, property damage, pain and suffering, and other losses recognized under Florida law.

Evidence in a hit-and-run investigation may include crash reports, witness statements, surveillance or traffic-camera footage, vehicle damage, photographs, toxicology evidence, and other information gathered by law enforcement.
