Wildwood, Florida (August 16,2026) – A 40-year-old Tampa man was killed after the tractor-trailer he was driving crashed off Florida’s Turnpike on Sunday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to troopers, the crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. near milepost 306.5 on southbound State Road 91, also known as Florida’s Turnpike, in the Wildwood area.
Investigators said the driver lost control of the tractor-trailer while traveling southbound. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and continued into an area with several trees.
The driver, a 40-year-old Tampa man, was killed in the crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Authorities have not released additional details about what caused the driver to lose control of the tractor-trailer. The crash remains under investigation.
