Volusia County, Florida (August 7, 2026) – A Deltona man was arrested Monday after allegedly causing a multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 4 and leaving the scene in a damaged pickup truck, according to authorities. The incident occurred in Volusia County near mile marker 108.
According to investigators, the pickup truck struck two other vehicles, causing one of the vehicles to overturn. The driver allegedly fled the crash site with significant front-end damage and without a front driver’s-side tire. A witness reportedly followed the damaged truck and provided law enforcement with updates on its location.
Deputies later located the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Authorities said the driver was taken into custody after exiting the truck. One person involved in the crash reportedly suffered minor injuries and did not require transportation to a hospital.
Authorities allege the driver was impaired and was operating the vehicle recklessly. The charges reportedly include DUI, reckless driving, fleeing and eluding, refusal to submit to DUI testing, driving an unregistered vehicle, failure to provide proof of insurance, and leaving the scene of a crash involving injury.
Florida law requires drivers involved in crashes resulting in injury or property damage to stop at the scene and provide required information and assistance. Leaving the scene of a crash involving injury can result in criminal penalties, with the severity depending on the circumstances and extent of the injuries.
A person injured in a motor vehicle crash may also have potential civil claims for damages when another driver’s negligence or wrongful conduct contributed to the collision. Depending on the circumstances, damages may include medical expenses, lost income, property damage, and other losses recognized under Florida law.
When allegations involve DUI, reckless driving, or fleeing the scene, the facts surrounding the collision may become particularly important in determining both criminal and civil liability. Each case depends on the evidence, including crash reports, witness statements, video footage, vehicle damage, and other available evidence.
This summary is based on publicly reported information concerning a Florida crash investigation and subsequent arrest.
