Orange County, Florida (July 22, 2026) – A bicyclist was killed in a crash involving a Tesla on Wednesday afternoon in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 1:21 p.m. on East Colonial Drive near Woodbury Road. Investigators said a 2022 Tesla Model 3 was traveling eastbound as the bicyclist traveled westbound in the eastbound bicycle lane. As the Tesla’s driver attempted to change lanes into the right-turn lane toward the State Road 408 entrance ramp, the bicyclist entered the vehicle’s path and was struck.
Emergency responders pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. The Tesla driver was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Authorities said the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
