Crystal Springs, Fla. (July 01, 2026) – Two men were killed and a woman was seriously injured in a head-on crash Saturday afternoon on State Road 39 near County Line Road in the Crystal Springs area, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the collision occurred at approximately 12:25 p.m. when the driver of a southbound Subaru SUV attempted to pass another vehicle and entered the northbound lane, where the SUV collided head-on with a Chrysler minivan.
The driver of the Subaru, a 65-year-old man from The Villages, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 71-year-old woman riding as a passenger in the Subaru sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The driver of the car, a 53-year-old man from Riverview, was also taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal crash.
