Orlando, Fla. (June 29, 2026) – One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in a fiery head-on crash Wednesday morning on Orange Avenue near Wetherbee Road in Orlando, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Authorities said the collision occurred around 6:30 a.m. on the Orange Avenue overpass. Investigators determined that a 26-year-old driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala was traveling southbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway, crossed the median, and entered the northbound lanes.

The Impala then collided head-on with a 2012 Toyota 4Runner driven by a 61-year-old man. A 33-year-old passenger was also traveling in the SUV.

Following the impact, both vehicles caught fire, troopers said. All three occupants were transported to a local hospital, where the driver of the Chevrolet Impala later died. The two occupants of the Toyota 4Runner sustained serious injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
